Solanum lycopersicum. The first "black" tomato to become widely available in the United States in 1990. Black Krim hails from Crimea, a peninsula in the Black Sea. These fruits are flattened, globe-shaped and grow to 8 to 12 ounces.
They are a deep reddish, purple color with delicate skin and a light green shoulder with full flavor. Black Krim tomatoes are very juicy with a slight saltiness that enhances the taste.
