Allium schoenoprasum. Chives are native to regions in Asia and Europe. Organic chive cultivars are common in the U.S. and different from its relative Chinese Chive variety, which is referred to as “Garlic Chive.” As one of the prolific “fines herbes” of cooking, organic chives are easy to grow from seed during the cool season, but also do well in temperate climates as hardy perennial herbs. Chives have also been used as a medicinal herb, providing cancer-fighting antioxidants and numerous vitamins that impact your long term health.
